Alabama Real Estate License Renewal Requirements
The Alabama Real Estate Commission (AREC) requires licensed real estate agents and brokers to renew their license every two years.
If you are renewing your salesperson or broker license, AREC requires you to complete 15 hours of Continuing Education (CE) courses. You are on the right page! Enroll in one of our 15 Hour Continuing Education (CE) course packages to fulfill the AREC education requirement for your first license renewal. We offer two types of CE course packages to pick from, depending on whether you have a salesperson or broker license.
Please note: Post-License courses, which are for agents to complete during their first year of licensure, are different than Continuing Education (CE) and you can enroll in them by navigating to our Alabama Post-License Packages.
Course Details
Course Format: Our courses are completely online and self-paced. Our courses are a combination of text and interactive elements which consist of true/false matching, vocabulary matching, scenario-based learning and more. This format makes our courses both interesting and engaging.
Reporting: We report course completions to AREC automatically on your behalf, typically within 1-2 business days. You may verify reported credits through the AREC website using these CMAP instructions.
Course Expiration: Expiration dates vary based on each course but are generally one year after your order date.
Final Exams: AREC does not require license holders to pass a final exam to earn continuing education credit. Our courses are designed to pass with a 0% minimum score.
Certificates: You will receive an electronic certificate of course completion immediately upon successful course completion.
Repeat Courses: AREC does not allow license holders to repeat the same course within the two year period preceding their license renewal date.
