The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires licensed real estate salespersons and brokers to renew their license every two years.
If you are renewing your salesperson license for the first time, TREC requires you to fulfill the Salesperson’s Apprenticeship Education (SAE) requirement by completing a total of 270 qualifying real estate course hours. If you obtained your license by submitting 180 hours of qualifying courses, you will need an additional 90 hours of elective SAE courses plus 4 hours each of Legal Update I and Legal Update II courses. You are on the right page! Enroll in one of our Salesperson Apprenticeship Education (SAE) course packages to fulfill the TREC education requirement for your first license renewal. Sales agents who have been made a supervisor by their broker must also take the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course to renew.
If you have already renewed your license once and this is your subsequent renewal or if you are a broker, TREC requires you to complete 18 hours of Continuing Education (CE) courses. CE courses are different than Salesperson Apprenticeship Education (SAE) courses and you can enroll in them by navigating to our Texas CE Packages.
