Alabama Real Estate License Cost

Are you ready to start a rewarding career in Alabama real estate? With limitless earning potential, you can build a successful business that helps you achieve your professional and personal goals. It all starts with meeting the Alabama Real Estate Commission’s (AREC) requirements for obtaining your license, which you can read more about in our other post here. In this guide, we’ll outline the cost of obtaining an Alabama real estate license, from the pre-license course to the exam and application fees.

Alabama Real Estate Education

To become an Alabama real estate agent, you must complete a 60-hour pre-license education course. This course covers essential topics like real estate principles, law, contracts, finance, and more to prepare you for a successful career. License Classroom conveniently offers all 60 hours of the Alabama pre-license course online and includes exam prep for the final licensing exam. The course is self-paced, so you can finish it on your own time and in the comfort of your own home!

In addition, AREC requires the course to be followed by a third-party proctored exam. We’ve partnered with PSI to offer this to you at an affordable cost of $25 per attempt.

The Alabama Real Estate License Exam can be challenging, but our Exam Prep Program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools for success on your first attempt. With real-time feedback, unlimited practice exams, and our money-back satisfaction guarantee, you can take the exam with confidence. We include the exam prep for you in the 60-hour Alabama pre-license course package.

Exam Fees

You’ll need to register for the licensing exam with Pearson Vue within six months of passing your pre-license course final exam. The Alabama Real Estate License Exam consists of 140 questions, with 100 for the national section and 40 for the state section. The cost is $70 per attempt, and you’re allowed multiple attempts. You must pass both the national and state portions with at least 70% to proceed.

Application Fees

AREC requires a completed background check with your license application and recommends you schedule a fingerprinting appointment with Fieldprint the same day you apply. On average, the fee for fingerprinting is around $48.25. You’ll receive a license application when you pass the license exam and must mail it to AREC along with a $210 fee within 90 days of passing.

Application Cost: $210

Once you secure a sponsoring broker and your application is approved, AREC will issue you a temporary license valid for 12 months. Brokerage fees and available resources vary, so interview different ones to find the best fit. They tend to compete for new agents, and you may receive a lot of emails and calls asking for meetups to “woo” you.
